Paral·lel Festival burst into the scene of music festivals in Spain three years ago as a singular festival, which aimed at offering a different and unique experience to its attendees. The philosophy of the festival that is held at the gates of the Pyrenees at the end of each summer since 2016 encompasses three main concepts: its location in the mountains of Guardiola de Berguedà; a curatorial selection of artists from the techno, ambient and experimental scene; and a limited capacity to 1000 people.

Paral·lel Festival has then decided to differentiate itself from other festivals once again and will offer the possibility to make all the purchases to the audience with cryptocurrencies in 2018. Paral·lel Festival wants to contribute to the growing use of this technology, so we will not just accept different cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin for the purchase of advance tickets, but we will also accept them during the three days of the festival. Attendees can thus buy their drinks, food or merchandise with this new technology.

Paral·lel Festival has a 60% of foreign audience, mainly coming from Europe but also from Japan, USA or Australia. We believe that accepting this payment method can facilitate their transactions: it is fast, with almost nonexistent commissions, and they will not need to change to euros. Although we are surrounded by nature and logistics can be more complicated than in other places, we do not want to give up trying new technologies and we have always liked to do things differently.

According to, there are nowadays more than 90 establishments that accept Bitcoin in Catalonia and more than 100 in Madrid. Although we know that it is not a very widespread method and we do not expect to exceed 1% of the total income in this first test, cryptocurrencies are increasingly an accepted technology, and we may have to cope with them in the near future. Therefore, any step further we can take in advance will help us positioning ahead of potential changes.

The third edition of Paral·lel Festival will be held between the 31st of August and the 2nd of September 2018. A total of approximately 35 hour with seven out of the final fourteen artists confirmed to the date. The festival also offers different services to the festivalgoers, including transport by shuttle bus from Barcelona and the possibility of sleeping in teepee tents at affordable prices.
